Hi all....I wanted to post some information about two upcoming artists/bands playing on Thursday, Jan 19th here at Dream Street. I hope you'll all be able to come and check them out...both EXTRAORDINARILY talented and put on a kickass show!SPIRALING
Check out music & video here: http://www.myspace.com/spiraling
Spiraling is an indie rock band whose distinctive radio friendly sound is an amalgam of punk, prog, and synth-pop that has left critics and fans searching for adjectives adequate to describe it. If you can imagine hooky yet adventurous songs played with the punk fire of Green Day and the expressive instrumental daring of King Crimson, you’ve got a pretty good idea about the sound. They have drawn comparisons to a melting pot of artists including Ben Folds, The Killers, Mae, Weezer, The Bravery, Jason Falkner, Death Cab for Cutie and Rooney to name a few while still being described as fresh, innovative and with catchy melodies, intelligent and clever lyrics and stellar musicianship.
The Garden State’s Spiraling are already considered rock stars and have become one of the biggest indie bands in their state and region. On a national level they are quickly winning over more and more fans (almost 32,000 myspace friends!) from touring relentlessly, making stops from coast to coast, and supporting acts such as Hot Hot Heat, OK Go, They Might Be Giants, Armor for Sleep, Violent Femmes, LIVE, Rooney, and Butch Walker. They have also developed an online presence through myspace, iTunes, and other sites that rivals many major label acts and they have hurdled the boundaries of commercial playlists with regular play on New York’s 92.3 K-Rock and Q104.3 and on alternate media outlets including XM Satellite Radio and the AOL Radio Network. Further, they have attracted the attention of renowned publications including The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, and The Onion.
In concert, Spiraling excels putting on a dynamic live performance. The frontman, Tom Brislin, is known for playing several instruments at once and twisting his arms into a pretzel as he reaches for knobs, dials, and key as he sings. Check out the video, A Face for Radio, currently in national promotion, on their myspace page. Brislin is a prodigy on the keyboards and in his early 20’s toured with Yes in 2001 as their keyboardist for the symphonic tour. He is supported by fierce performances from guitarist Marty O’Kane, bassist Bob Hart, and drummer Paul Wells bringing together a show that will leave you with an adrenaline rush. This is a live performance that you won’t soon forget!
ZACK HEXUM

Tennis champion Venus Williams states on her website: “I’ve got nothing but love for Zack, you guys are going to love him too!” In his live performances Zack will wow you, move you, charm you and feel like your best friend in one sitting. His musical talent is undeniable and runs in the Hexum family. Zack is the younger brother of Nick Hexum, frontman for the band 311. He has had opportunities to open for his brother’s band in marquee venues such as The Filmore in San Franciso and The Wiltern in Los Angeles and wins over the crowd every time.
Hexum’s music blends rock, pop, and jazz into a sound that is somewhat reminiscent of a Jason Falkner. He studied jazz at the University of North Texas. He draws his strongest influence, however, from the Beatles with the goal for his music to have the same timeless quality and vast appreciation. He is quickly gaining recognition through non-stop touring and hard work. The single from his full length CD, The Story So Far, featured a song “Met a Girl Like You Once” that has been heard on the highly viewed Fox’s The OC and played regularly on KROQ out of Los Angeles.
